Ya habéis podido ver la entrevista de Dylan & Sara y de Sean Flanigan en el Experto en Fotografía Social con Sean Flanigan, Thierry Joubert y Dylan & Sara que tuvo lugar los días 14, 15 y 16 de abril. Por fin ha llegado el momento de compartir con vosotros la entrevista que tuvimos el placer de hacerle a Thierry Joubert. Un fotógrafo francés especialista en fotografía de bodas que nos conquistó a todos en Workshop Experience no solo por su inconfundible estilo, sino también por su arrolladora personalidad. Esperamos que la disfrutéis tanto como nosotros y la compartimos con vosotros tanto en castellano como inglés (podéis leerla en inglés unos párrafos más abajo).
1. ¿Puedes hablarnos un poco de ti?
Hola. Mi nombre es Thierry Joubert, soy francés y vivo en Biarritz, en la Costa Atlántica. Soy fotógrafo de bodas, pero prefiero describirme como un contador de historias. Tengo cuarenta años, estoy casado y soy padre de dos hijos. Estoy encantado de poder hacer algo que me aporta muchísimo y encantado también de estar en España compartiendo mi experiencia y cmi manera de ver las cosas con otros fotógrafos españoles. Quiero también darle las gracias a Workshop Experience por organizar este workshop y proponer proyectos como este para fotógrafos de boda.
2. ¿Qué querías ser cuando eras pequeño?
Cuando era joven, soñaba con ser astronauta, pero no hice en la escuela el esfuerzo por convertirme en astronauta, así que durante dieciocho años me he centrado en algo que me ha aportado muchos valores. Cuando pienso en esto, en el fondo de mi corazón sé que convertirme en fotógrafo de bodas me ha hecho ser el hombre más feliz del mundo.
3. ¿A qué querían tus padres que te dedicaras?
Ahora que soy padre, por supuesto que quiero que mis hijos tengan una buena posición cuando sean adultos, pero lo principal es que amen lo que hacen, sea lo que sea.
4. ¿Cómo describirías tu estilo fotográfico?
¿Mi estilo de fotografía? Adoro hacer lo que me gusta y voy en su búsqueda. Comparto momentos importantes con las parejas y realmente compartir es para mí algo muy importante, tanto la boda de la que forme parte, como este workshop …
5. ¿Qué crees que te diferencia de otros fotógrafos de bodas?
Me encanta decir en mis workshops que para ser diferentes, sean ellos mismos. Creo que la impresión que los demás tienen de nosotros es justamente la que nosotros tenemos de nosotros mismos.
6. ¿Qué has estado haciendo hoy en Workshop Experience?
Hemos venido aquí (he olvidado el nombre en español, perdonadme) a hacer una sesión de pareja con todos los asistentes a este workshop de Workshop Experience a un lugar increíble. Entre tanta naturaleza estamos solo la pareja, su historia, su amor y mi cámara. Eso es todo lo que se necesita en la fotografía y no tantos artificios para intentar crear una historia. Hoy he intentado mostrarles cómo realizo mis sesiones de pareja, pero lo más importante que he intentado que vieran es que lo principal en una sesión es conectar con la pareja. Podemos tener lo mejor de lo mejor, pero si no tenemos conexión durante la sesión, no puedo imaginar unos buenos resultados.
7. ¿Qué consejo le darías a alguien que quiera convertirse en fotógrafo de bodas?
Como ya he dicho, el workshop para mí es momento para compartir, un momento en que dar consejos. No me considero nadie para dar consejos a los demás, pero si tuviera que darle uno a alguien que quiera empezar a ser fotógrafo de bodas, simplemente le diría que no siga el camino de la normalidad y que sea el mismo, eso es lo que le hará diferente.

1. Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hello. My name is Thierry Joubert, I’m French and I live in Biarritz on the Atlantic Coast. I am a wedding photographer, but but I prefer to describe me as a storyteller. I am forty years old, I’m married and I am the father of two children. I am delighted to be able to do something in which I have always been really interested and delighted to be in Spain sharing my experience and the way I see things with Spanish photographers. I also would like to thank Workshop Experience for the organization and for suggesting projects like this to wedding photographers.
2. When you were a child, what did you aimed to become when you were older?
When I was young, I dreamed of being a cosmonaut, but I did not make the effort to become an astronaut at school so for eighteen years I’ve focused on something that has given me many values. When I look at this in my heart, I believe that after becoming a wedding photograph I am the happiest man all around the world.
3. What did your parents aimed you to become?
Now that I am a parent, of course I want my children to have a good position when they become adults, but the main thing is that they love those they do, whatever it is.
4. How would you describe your style as photographer?
My style of photography? I love doing what I like and I’m searching for it all the time. I try sharing important moments with couples and sharing is very important to me, both sharing each wedding, as this workshop…
5. What do you think distinguishes your work from that of other photographers?
I love to say in my workshops that to be different, you must be yourself. I think the impression that others have of us is precisely the impression that we have of ourselves.
6. What have you been doing today at Workshop Experience?
We are here to make a couple session with all participants in this workshop at Workshop Experience in an amazing place. In the mist of nature we are just a couple, their history, their love and my camera. That’s all we need in photography and not so many tricks to try to create a story. Today I tried to show them how to make my partner sessions, but most importantly I have tried them to see that the main thing in a session is being connected with the couple. We can have the best of all, but if we have no connection during the session, I can not imagine good results.
7. What is your advice for somebody who wants to pursue wedding photography?
As I have already said, workshop is time for me to share a time when giving advice. I do not consider myself as anyone able to give advice to others, but if I had to give one advice to someone who wants to start being wedding photographer, I would just tell him not to follow the path of normality and being him or herself, because that’s what will make the difference.
